I have found that Twitter has actually almost been enjoyable since I started using Alan Renouf's (He's not French) Virtual Twit list. Alan seems to have taken the responsbility to manage this list of key virtualization bloggers and other prevelant community folks. On his site, he has provided a PowerShell script that was written by Steven Murawski at the Mind of Root website that adds key PowerShell folks to Twitter.
Since I now have PowerGUI open all day nearly every day I thought, "How cool would it be to simply create an action in PowerGUI to update my Twitter list with Alan's list". Alan told me to go for it, so I added some minor modifications to the script to function as a PowerGUI action and have exported the .action file for any PowerGUI user to enjoy. Now when I want to update my list, I click a single button instead of having to open a command prompt (Yes, I'm THAT lazy). Now, I use PowerGUI exclusively for virtualization management, and Kirk Munro (Poshoholic) already gave me the lecture that "This isn't where it belongs", "There should be a Twitter PowerPack for PowerGUI", and probably 2-3 other things, but as I told him, My PowerGUI, My Choice. I decided that since I am Virutalization only in my PowerGUI, that I want to be able to update my list no matter what I'm looking at, so I decided to export this .action file as a "Common Action". To import this into your PowerGUI, follow these simple steps. If you are new to PowerGUI, make sure you check out my SUPER quick primer to get started. First, download the file attached to this post. Once you have it saved on your hard drive simply open PowerGUI and towards the lower right of your Console Window, choose to "Add New Item -> Import" from the "Actions: Common" section.
In that single step you have now enabled yourself to quickly and easily update the list of who Alan says you should be following on Twitter whenever you want!
