People say "All good things must come to an end"
I have found that this is also true for bad things; such as the previous incarnation of VMGuru.com. The previous version of the site was difficult to work with, impossible to customize, and was, for the most part, completely ignored. While most of the inactivity can be attributed to finishing up our second book: VMware Infrastructure 3: Advanced Technical Design Guide and Advanced Operations Guide, the last 2 years have also afforded me with a rigorous travel schedule while working sometimes up to 3 full time positions at the same time; which will easily suck up anyone's time.
Well, the book is finally finished and in the hands of the publisher for final review, layout and printing, which feels good to say after about 14 months of work. In addition I changed positions about 5 months back which is providing with a more manageable travel schedule. I am finally at a point where the work I am performing is current and not 3 months late, and some of my larger projects are nearing completion.
With all that in mind, I have been busy working with some brilliant marketing folks that I am fortunate enough to have access to on renovating this site to provide the best original content available. There are some great things planned throughout the remainder of this year that will eventually lead to regular features on this site.
- Article content regarding all major virtualization platform vendors
- Frequent book updates as ESX 3.5 and 3i make their way into GA
- Regular blogs from the key site contributors
- Weekly News Reviews which expand upon the most important happenings for the week
- Mediacasts such as Audio, Video, and Whiteboard Demos (Like those awesome UPS commercials in the US)
- Any other items I just think are too cool to pass up
- Our no-nonsense attitude about providing the real information you need without having to wade through marketing fluff
Throughout the next few weeks expect quite a bit of activity as ESX 3.5 and 3i are officially launched and our book finally goes on sale on Amazon.
It may be glaringly obvious that there is no longer a way to login, rank content, or leave comments. This is intentional as I attempt to export the user information from the old site and import it into the new. All of these features will be in place within a short timeframe to make this an interactive community once again.
