VMworld Europe PDF Print

I was hoping to publish my new article about my new iSCSI server that I built this week, but completely ran out of time trying to prepare for an 8 day trip to France for VMworld Europe in Cannes.  There may be a chance that I can squeeze the build specs in before I have to leave for the airport Friday afternoon, but will not make any promises.

I'm very excited to head over to TSX VMworld Europe, as I have attended the event the last two years in both Paris and Nice.  Come to think of it...someone at VMware REALLY likes France.  I think I'm personally blaming Richard Garsthagen.  Surprisingly, the reason I'm most excited is not the fact that the pre-release copy of the VI3 book will make it's debut (Not to take anything away from it), but Vizioncore and Quest will be revealing some new and very exciting technologies in which I have spent the last 2 years of my life being heavily involved in their research and development.  All around, it will be an amazing show, and one that I will remember for a while.

For those fortunate enough to be attending the event, feel free to stop by and say "Hi" for your chance to enter the Vizioncore drawing to be one of 20 lucky winners of the VI3: Advanced Technical Design Guide!

No.1 iSCSI target
After failing with Fedora Core 4, 5, and 6, rPath Openfiler Linux has been solid for about two years as an iSCSI target for VMware ESX Server.

No.2 re: iSCSI target
I also gave up on Fedora LONG ago and have since switched to Ubuntu. I decided to build the iSCSI server on 7.10 Server, which has some...intricacies...in the configuration, but is rock solid (6.06 would have been a lot easier). I'm also running some infrastructure services on the same box such as ntpd, dns, dhcp, etc, so wanted a workhorse of an OS as opposed to more of the appliance route.
