Tuesday, 11 December 2007

Mike Laverick, co-author of the VI3: ATDG has finally made his "What's new and different" guide for VI 3.5 available for the public. We had to actually wait for VMware to launch VI 3.5 before bringing this to you due to beta non-disclosure agreements and the typical legal stuff that gets in the way.

Virtual Iron also Updates their Offering PDF Print
Written by Scott Herold
Tuesday, 11 December 2007

It appears as if Virtual Iron has also decided to play the "New Release" game by announcing Virtual Iron 4.2 for general availability.  I can honestly say I lost this one in all the hype of waiting for VMware to officially announce VI 3.5.  This release adds some well needed functionality to the Virtual Iron offering to make them more competitive in the enterprise space.

Visio Stencils PDF Print

Wednesday, 05 December 2007

I clearly forgot to move the Virtualization Visio Stencils over when I updated the site. I have dug up the most recent version of my Visio 2003/2007 stencil and you can download it from the direct link here. This link will likely change once I implement a proper download manager on this site. Those who haven't downloaded these stencils in a while may notice a change or two tossed in.

Written by Administrator
Thursday, 06 December 2007

I have resurrected this old article from the previos VMguru website that was writty by Jason Mattox from Vizioncore. I will also be reformatting and republishing other previously written artciles tonight and throughout the weekend. Jason has provided the following information for people looking to use some of the low-cost storage alternatives available in VI3. This particular setup uses a Windows machine and Windows Services for UNIX to create an NFS share that can be mounted to an ESX host for Virtual Machine, Template or ISO storage.

VMGuru 3.0 PDF Print

People say "All good things must come to an end"

I have found that this is also true for bad things; such as the previous incarnation of VMGuru.com. The previous version of the site was difficult to work with, impossible to customize, and was, for the most part, completely ignored. While most of the inactivity can be attributed to finishing up our second book: VMware Infrastructure 3: Advanced Technical Design Guide and Advanced Operations Guide, the last 2 years have also afforded me with a rigorous travel schedule while working sometimes up to 3 full time positions at the same time; which will easily suck up anyone's time.
